Hyundai Elantra Transmission

A vehicle's transmission is a drivetrain component that features internal gears
to allow the vehicle to travel at different speeds while the engine is turning
at the same rpm. This is done by shifting the gears manually using the shift levers
for the manual transmission. For the automatic transmission, on the other hand,
gear shifting is automatic depending on the prescribed parameters, even without
driver input.
The Hyundai Elantra is equipped with a standard 5-speed manual transmission while
a 4-speed automatic transmission is offered as an option at an additional price.
This means that with a standard Hyundai Elantra, you can change your speed five
times with five different gears plus one gear for the reverse motion of your car.
The 4-speed automatic transmission would basically do the same except that it
has only four speeds and does the shifting automatically.
Taking the 4-speed automatic transmission option has both advantages and disadvantages.
The main advantage of having the 4-speed automatic transmission for your Elantra
is that it becomes easier to drive. This is particularly advantageous for new
drivers as they won't have to worry too much about the difficulty of shifting
gears. The disadvantage is that this type of transmission won't take advantage
of the full power of your engine. With the 5-speed manual transmission, you take
advantage of the engine better.
