2003 Hyundai Elantra
2003 is just another ordinary year for the Hyundai Elantra. It is a carryover
from its 2002 model, with not much change since its major redesign in 2001. The
powertrain is retained, maybe because it gives enough power for the economic subcompact
class. Nothing to worry though, its engine is still one of the best in its class,
and Hyundai continuously find ways to reduce its engine noise.

For 2003, the GT became available with a sedan, adding to the previous two trims:
the GLS sedan and the GT hatchback. The GLS is the entry-level model, and although
it does not have all the luxury of the sportier GT, it doesn't lack the practicality
and functionality as well. It is equipped with standard features like air conditioning,
power door locks and windows, power mirror, tilt-steering wheel, comfortable cloth-covered
seats, and a cassette stereo system. For safety, it has dual front air bags, front
side air bags, passenger side air bags, and 4-wheel disc brakes. It is also equipped
with a theft deterrent system with optional alarm for security purposes.
The sporty GT, both the sedan and hatchback models, are equipped with added features.
Conveniences such as leather seats and a CD stereo system are just among the added
features in the GT model. It also has a sportier outside look and provides you
a sportier ride. Suspension and transmission enhancement give its driving a smoother
feel. Efforts made to lessen the noise and vibration can now be felt not only
for the GT but also for the entry-level GLS.
Reliability has always been a downside for the Hyundai Elantra, as through the
years, it has not had a good review when reliability is concerned. But Hyundai
erases all that fear and concern with their complete warranty, which is also one
of the longest warranties ever in the car industry. It may not be the best sedan,
compared to high-cost competitors like the Honda Civic and Ford Focus, but it
gives you practicality and functionality at an unbelievably low price.
