1994 Hyundai Elantra
Many reviews give the 1994 Hyundai Elantra an average rating. It offers many
great features but it also has a lot of downsides. It is a subcompact car that
can give its rivals a good match-up, but does not perform any better than them.
Its standard features, however, are good enough when you consider its affordable
price.
The Hyundai Elantra makes use of a 1.6 liter 113 hp 4 cylinder engine for its
base model and a 1.8 liter 124 hp 4 cylinder engine for the GLS model. As expected
from cars using 4 cylinder engines, the drive is not so smooth and neither is
it quiet. It is said to provide good fuel economy, but its fuel economy figures
are not that impressive.
The subcompact car uses a 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive as its standard
transmission with a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive as an option.
Safety features are minimal, providing only an airbag for the driver, while the
front and rear passengers are provided only with seatbelts. Four-wheel antilock
disc brakes come only as an option for the GLS model, and totally unavailable
for the base model. Aside from these, no other safety features are installed to
protect the passengers.
Changes for 1994 are minimal, and comes mostly as part of the optional package
for the GLS model. Comfort and convenience features are hardly available on the
base models, and come mostly as optional features for the GLS. The car is clearly
intended for low budgeted buyers, although availing of the optional packages can
give the Elantra added comfort and convenience features.
In general, the 1994 Hyundai Elantra is a good buy considering its affordability.
With an affordable price, it can compete with its rivals like Honda Civic and
Nissan Sentra. But for those who want to have more than just a working car, the
Elantra is not the best choice.
